Oh I love Jack White but god can he be dim sometimes.
He’s releasing another solo record, “Lazaretto”, on June 10th, and has been promoting it like mad. In an interview, he was a bit out of control and his pretentious side was showing. There were a few quotes that just blew me away because he sounded ignorant and inarticulate, which he clearly isn’t.
First off, there was a female journalist that said he had a “women problem”, and bashed him around a bit. His backlash was out of hand. “I’ve worked with more women than anyone you’ll ever meet. If you know anything about me, do you think I like digital photography? No. I don’t. So obviously this song is not about fucking Jack White, so fuck you! If you’re that chick who wrote that article — and I say chick on purpose — she won’t understand that line, because she doesn’t do her research.”
Also, he’s been known for stopping mid-performance because the crowd isn’t good enough for him. “People can’t clap anymore, because they’ve got a fucking texting thing in their fucking hand, and probably a drink, too! Some musicians don’t care about this stuff, but I let the crowd tell me what to do. There’s no set list. I’m not just saying the same things I said in Cleveland last night. If they can’t give me that energy back? Maybe I’m wasting my time.”
Not to mention he was a total asshole in regards to The Black Keys- “That’s a possible twelve fucking years I’m going to have to be sitting in kids chairs next to that asshole with other people trying to lump us in together. He gets yet another free reign to follow me around and copy me and push himself into my world.”
He also claims he “personally championed” Meg White for 15 years, but then apologized, took everything back, and wrote a formal letter saying sorry with his tail between his legs. The man’s grown into a bitter cow who’s too busy falling in love with his own work to respect anyone else. I’m, very unfortunately, disgusted.
