I am going to either the April or the May concert. I think maybe the May 4th (a Saturday concert), which is the performing of a new work, so you gotta think. The April 26th show is a Friday, so I could definitely live with that.

Ho Hey – The Lumineers – These are hard working kids who have been at it for more than five years and have just broken out with this album. If you can get past the lead singers voice, they are fairly original moods for moderns and here discover a very original hook – Grade: B

RAMT doesn’t only empower you to run faster, but they want you to participate into a social revolution, and Ryan has just declared he believes ‘our rights come from nature and God’!

I see no problem with legit porn so this to me holds not interest. But who has the dollars? Your basic average suburban mother. Disposable income and dreams of life outside the mundane make this Fifty Shades of marketing for their dollar.

I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know – Kenny Latimore – Here the great r&b man brings down the hammer on a great blues soul conglom, he lets it build as hard as it can as keyboards swirl around him, and then throws in glissandros just to keep us honsest – Grade: A-

from early 70s Brazilian bossa nova, to funk, samba, soul, jazz, cumbia and other Latino rhythms, each song could have been a melting pot of about everything, rather turned towards the past generations, but don’t be too fast at calling them retro.

What’s more important than the music? The packaging! The 2-CDs are wrapped in an LP-sized book of photos from the tour. The book also comes with liner notes talking through the tracks written by U2 bassist Adam Clayton!! SQUEEE!!

Saturday Night is modern metal music night at the Prudential Center, and the headliners is one of my favorite modern metal bands, Five Finger Death Punch!! They are such hard metal they sound like hardcore, and this looks like an evening of awesome handbanging.

Redlight (geddit) an are all girl English band with a house beat and a disco hear, Lawson a boy band though the US might have reach overload on this particular vibe.

The Descent – Bob Mould – His first release for Merge proves he hasn’t lost a step. Hasn’t added a step either. This is pretty good, maybe a little more: revved up guitars, nearly memorable melody Mould – Grade: B+

Listening to Brion’s soundtrack manages to give a very good impression of the atmosphere of the film. With the course of 16 tracks, all transcribing a very cinematic imagery, we go through a roller-coaster of emotions, with heavy strings, scary synth, or desolated keys.

Diamond receieved a scholarship to NYU for fencing, was a pre med student who wanted to cure cancer and dropped out 6 months before gradution. Started writing songs and well after a bit, he made more than any doctor could and had more underwear whipped at him than I’d care to fathom.

From the opening “Take Me To Manhattan” with a lovely gasping trumpet solo followed by a piano solo, all the way through to the bass walking last song finale, this is a trip through the Manhattan of both the 1940s, when jazz giants wrote the American standards, to the mid-1990s, as cabaret made one last stand.

Played bass on Miles Davis penultimate albums Tutu and Amandia, recorded in the mid 1980s and considered his last hurrah. And when Miller keeps to bass heavy funk jazz workouts here, the superb “Mr Clean” and the sanctificial “Detroit” this is pretty unassailably great. The rest of the album is too distracted from what it should be doing – Grade: B+

Remember Me – Diana Ross – Having just seen Valerie Simpson live Friday night, and discovering Diana was somewhere in the audience, I went back to this masterpiece from 1970. A stirring Motown giant of a song, “Remember me as a big balloon at a carnival that ended too soon”. RIP Nick – Grade: A+

As a peer, I can say that though the attempt was decent, it was nowhere near what she could’ve made it. I hear a lot of potential in her voice and she just oversang it. She held notes too long, used a bit too much vibrato, and didn’t make it her own as much as she attempted to change it a bit.

I heard three of these tracks earlier this year when TA opened for Fucked Up at Le Poisson Rouge and thought Stickles and band hadn’t missed a step, but listening to the video you will find at the bottom of this post, the two new songs sound a little ordinary

Emotion could be the key word to describe the album, as there is a lot of it throughout the 11 tracks, served by simple lyrics, and Gil Sandoval’s expressive and clear delivery.

When a proper elder gentry continuously offers hook ups with younger talent you cant help but think it a bit creepy. Ok the whole Lady Gaga obsession should be enough but do you think the world could have continued to spin without Tony and Mark Anthony?

The album is a complete disaster except for Whitney Houston’s “His Eye On The Sparrow” . Sure, she didn’t have the voice she once had, she was 47 years old for fucks sake. But really, on an album with Jordin Sparks and some Nigerian actress, there is no competition to mention.
