No “Night Moves”???? But it really doesn’t matter, from “Skin The Cat” to, dedicated to Jake’s own Mama in the audience, “Take Your Mama”, to a set closing spectacular “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin'” which got an audience that hadn’t stood still dancing even more, it made SS claim that this was like playing the family basement all the truer and all the more intimate and more more more fun.

Rufus Wainwright's "Out Of The Game" Reviewed

I am not offering a blanket condemnation, the title track, “Jericho”, “Welcome To the Ball” are all very good songs. But they can’t keep the album, a conceptual mish mash and a silly move into the mainstream, afloat. It is his worst album to date… though still pretty damn good.

Maren Parusel Has Ways To Make you Have Fun

Her songs are strong enough, the buzz around her loud, she hobnobs with the stars, and she can write a song. If English is her second language it is damn hard to tell, and there is a sophisticated pop ready veneer to her. A just waiting to break. But I remain ambivalent. I am not in love with her voice and sometimes it is all a touch to uber-romance blahblah-y.

Must MISS Concert: Enrique And J Lo In July

Enrique Iglesias was worse. A mediocre set came to a complete halt when he brought out a child, she couldn’t have . It was one of the most mortifying thing I’ve ever seen. He was THIRTY YEARS OLD FOR GOD’S SAKE. He should have been arrested on the spot

Chris Martin Has Tinnitus

But I think it is probably more than simply listening to loud music as a teenager and more a predisposition to the debillitating injury. It’s not just ear ringing, but mind bending headaches as well. in the end, if Martin can’t hear music properly, how can he maintain his career?

Classy smooth jazz cat with a wicked sense of humor and, like many a jazz man before him, got picked up in Europe before the US. Perhaps it is the salted dryness of his tongue in check humor. Why doesn’t he worry? Because he knows nothing it is going to go right – Grade: A

Good Times Theme – Silver Screen Symphony – Easy Credit rip offs? Temporary layoffs? The theme from the Inner City ethnic comedy couldn’t decide if they believed in them or not, but for all the edge, it was a blueprint for the arrived Jeffersons and top of the food chain. The song is a catchy so and so, pure, er, dy-no-mite – Grade: A-

When Just One Song Changes A Bands Life

Readying myself for Saturday’s Red Hot Chili Pepper’s concert at Prudential, I was listening to their music and found my self at “Give It Away”. For RHCP life occured in two parts, before and after “Give It Away”. This is probably true of many, although not all, succesful bands

The Beach Boys 50th Anniversary Setlist 2012

It is supposed to be a career retrospective but it doesn’t get too obscure. Nothing from The Beach Boys Love You. . Only “Disney Girls” from Surf’s Up. And entire albums without a hint… maybe not their best albums but still, if they are gonna suck on “Kokomo” why no “Wild Honey”?

Bruuuucccceeeeee At Prudential Last Wednesday

Bruce pulled out a card from the audience which had written on it “Play One For Levon” and proceeded to cover “The Weight”. Pretty awesome, plus both “No Surrender ” and “Rosalita”. But stil, way too much from Wrecking Ball. And anway, they didn’t get “Johnny 99” -easily the best song at MSG. And I can’t see anything on this setlist good enough to replace it. Not even personal fave “Bishop Dance”.

Daughters – Nas – Written for his 17 year old kid, I dismissed this song as nothing special but it is at least somewhat special: as he writes about “his precious little girl”, Nas seems to invade her privacy and the song isn’t good enough to withstand the inappropriateness. On the plus side, the chorus is catchy and there is something so charming in an old time rapper being such a strong parent figure. In the end, the latter is more important than most anything else. grade: A

George Harrison's "Early Takes Vol 1" Reviewed

The two covers are from Dylan and the Everly Brothers, the absolute standards as far as a very clean clear version are “Run Of The Mill” and “My Sweet Lord”. the Naked redux is “All Things Must Pass” and the new song, “Woman Don’t You Cry”, isn’t up to much.

Jack White's "Blunderbuss" Reviewed

A blunderbuss is somebody “unsubtle or clumsy” -so let’s call it a minor self portrait and it will point you to what is wrong, or at least not quite right, with Blunderbuss: it is a minor work. a tinted mirror of White backing in on itself, and self-referential, self-absorbed, it doesn’t invite the listener in.
