So That's Where Vampire Weekend Are At…

I hate getting posts from NME because everybody else does as well, but since numerous phonecalls and threatening emails to Ezra Koenig have gone unanaswered, rock nyc will take its news where it founds it. I found it on NME who got it from Rolling Stone.

"It would be cool if it was [released] this year. I always want to release music as soon as possible, but more and more I'm realizing it's something you almost have no control over. We just never want to be in a position [where] when we put out something, we feel could've benefited from more time"

So sayeth Ezra and it begs an answer to the musical question, if VE release an album late this year at the latest, may I please have their job: a world in which you can take three fucking years between your second and third album. What exactly do they think thy're doing? Writing "War And Peace". It took Flaubert three years to write "Madame Bovary" (actually, five but let's say three for the sake of this analogy) and I doubr very much VE have anything approaching "Madame Bovary among the…whoops, forgot that bit: they've got tons of song written.

I wonder how long is too long to wait between albums? Modern popsters seem to try for a song release a quarter or so, even if it is just a single off the album.

Anyway, they are playing the Pitchfork fest in July, and the bassist has an album coming out next week.
