Active Viewin': Pick Concerts Week Of April 29th, 2012

On one of those special weeks of pop in the city )(next weekend is pretty awesome as well), Scissor Sisters at Bowery Ballroom wins the place of honor. BB is T5 -where they are playing later this year, it is a small, first rate room and although it's a Sunday night, it is also a rare oppornuity to see a built for Arenas dance band in a intimate quarters!

Monday – The Shins – T5 – They sucked when they were coming off a much better album in a sit down room, they are going to blow so hard here.

Tuesday – Barry Manilow – Radio City Music Hall – He's back, after cancelling his Valentine Day's gigs. And really, Barry could teach these youngsters a thing or two about playing to an audience. If you've enever seen him live, treat yourself.

Wednesday – Bruce Springsteen And the E Street – Prudential Center – I was disappoined earlier this year with his MSG gig, let's see if they've gotten any tighter.

Thursday – Total Slacker -mercury Lounge  Seond on the bill but I've seen this indie band live twice and they blew me away both times and while the current album doesn't caputure their live performance, it is good enough.

Friday – Lady Antebellum – The first album was the keeper, but Own the Night wasn't terrible. Country as Adult Oriented Rock.

Saturday – Red Hot Chili Peppers – Prudential Center –  I saw em on the By The Way tour and thought they were a complete bore. Maybe this time they will prove my disdain misplaced.
