Here is a little secret for all you music fans: whenever a pop star says "We’re out there to give you our hits, our heart and soul", hide your wallet.
I am a big Latin American music fan, I've seen everybody from Tito Puente and Celia Cruz to Millie Quezada and Elvis Crespo ,and I have seen all three of these acts on stage and ALL THREE SUCKED.
Wisin Y Yandel I caught at Summerstage last year, and they are as hot as modern Salsa can possibly get and they left a more than thrilled audience comatose. It was a shocking display of incompetence. I will never see them again.
Enrique Iglesias was worse. A mediocre set came to a complete halt when he brought out a child, she couldn't have been more than thirteen .Apparently unaware of her age at first and once it became clear, he couldn't stop the yucky seduction sceneraio, dry humping her, licking her ear, and generally assaulting the kid. It was one of the most mortifying thing I've ever seen. He was THIRTY YEARS OLD FOR GOD'S SAKE. He should have been arrested on the spot. Finally, he asks for a kiss and the girl says no before being lead off stage almost in tears.
Worst of all was J Lo at MSG. I don't know if she can sing or can't sing. But she definitely can't lip synch. She danced pretty well for 20 minutes and it must have completely slipped her her mind that she should have at least pretended to sing. At least Ashley Simpson made an effort.
They are playing Friday, Saturday, July 20th and 21st. I've be washing my hair.
