Chris Martin of Coldplay has suffered from Tinnitus, the constant ringing in the ears, that can lead to deafness.
Martin told contact.com " ''I've had tinnitus for about 10 years, but since I started protecting my ears it hasn't got any worse – touch wood. 'The band use moulded filter plugs, or in-ear monitors. You can use industrial headphones but they look strange at a party. 'Looking after your ears is unfortunately something you don't think about until there's a problem. I wish I'd thought about it earlier.''
This is serious stuff. Look at Pete Townsend, he is all but deaf. But I think it is probably more than simply listening to loud music as a teenager and more a predisposition to the debillitating injury. It's not just ear ringing, but mind bending headaches as well. in the end, if Martin can't hear music properly, how can he maintain his career?
