So on Wednesday I will be going to my own, personal, biggest concert of the year: the Beach Boys 50th year anniversary show. This setlist is from their May 2nd, St. Augustine concert. And, of course, Carl And Dennis are along only in spirit, and Glenn was more a conceptual Beach Boy, still: Brian, Al, Bruce and the rest of the cousins will be doing it one more time and a glance at this set list would seem to prove there is a bloody good reason for them to be doing it!.
And although Brian seemed resigned to a reunion he wanted no part of, perhaps it will help him if he doesn't have to be centerstage.
It is supposed to be a career retrospective but it doesn't get too obscure. Nothing from The Beach Boys Love You. . Only "Disney Girls" from Surf's Up. And entire albums without a hint… maybe not their best albums but still, if they are gonna suck on "Kokomo" why no "Wild Honey"? Still, "This Whole World" from Sunflower!!!
So, of course we're gonna nitpick… at least two should have been shoehorned in: "Darlin'" and "Girl Don't tell me". And something from Love You, just "Mona"…
