Imagine Bryan Ferry singing lead on an early Shins track with the piano taking top honors and an arrangement that sounds busier than it is before ascending into a psychelic jam anf there you have it.
The band is The Toddlers and its a dream of uxorious love with caveats aplenty, "You Can Keep the Wheels" (a subconscious nod to John Lennon's wife loving album) and it is really, reaaky good.
Wolfe had a hand in it and it was released on his wittily named Tangible Formats label. But why write when I can cut and paste? "Tangible Formats provides high quality lathe cut records for independent artists and labels in need of small quantities. Your music is cut into blank virgin vinyl discs in real time. The discs are specially formulated to resemble the durability, look, and sound of pressed vinyl. You don’t have to sacrifice quality for quantity."
Sounds like a blast to me and there are only six copies remaining and since I am about to buy one myself, that would seem to leave… FIVE!
The website is really cool, and here is the url http://www.tangibleformats.com/index.html
Wolfe is one of the best songwriters out there. He has never written a song I haven't at least admired. Support your local rock and roll star, folks.
