This maybe the best ten songs list of the year. Right at the top are two songs which will be very high on my end of year list, along with a third at the very bottom which will also make the near top of the year, meanwhile three artists I am on the record as to loathing, McGraw, Chesney and alt-j came up with crackerjacks, Kimba, who I have never much noticed, has a good album (I underestimated it earlier this week).

I got a Thank You after a review once, and a thumbs up after a comment, and believe me, the amount of people who want Taylor’s attention are huge, I mean millions upon millions, that’s like winning the lottery.
The problem with Taylor’s contemporaries, with the Katy Perrys and Lady Gagas, and even music producers from Dr. Luke to the Weeknd, is that while the music may sound great and everybody can write a hook in 2013, the songs are the weak spot. And that’s where Taylor excells, even by country music’s standards the woman can write a song, by modern pop standards she is a genius.
ARMS – Studio At Webster Hall, Tuesday, October 15th, 2013 – Todd Goldstein is a one band except he has a full band and they take the stage to a soundscape indie rock of power and beauty and a smart sound you would do well to listen to.
Any week with a new Swift song ain’t gonna be an entire dog but the only hold over from last week is Pearl Jam and going round down this list you will find some terrific new songs
Dull Tool – Fiona Apple – The highlight of her Beacon Theater concert stands up as a major find hidden as an album only track on This Is 40, which kinda makes sense as it isn’t about libidos out of control but rather very much in control – A

S.O.S. In Bel Air – Phoenix – The catchiest song off their last album and neither song nor album has lit the world on fire, but that doesn’t mean this catchy electronic pop rock shouldn’t have done better – B+
