So here is a question, if you had an editor for 10 years and said editor is now the editor of Yahoo Music, shouldn’t said editor get you into a Yahoo gig? He should, right? Well, what if you have barely spoken to him in 25 years? It gets trickier, right?
Dave Dimartino, along with Susan Whitall, John Kordosh and Bill Holdship, was my editor at Creem magazine in the 1980s, though I haven’t soken to him very often in the post, er, 30 years!! Always a good guy however, no doubt about that. Anyway, I asked my friend freelance writer Rob o”Connor to get in touch and ask Dave -who is now the head of Yahoo Music (nice work, etc.) to see if he could press list me for the Taylor Swift Live, from New York Streaming Worldcast show.
This is from Billboard (though we got the story from an email fanclub): “Taylor Swift has teased clues, and now the announcement is finally here: The Grammy-winning superstar will appear in a worldwide live stream with Yahoo! on Aug. 18 in New York City at 5 p.m. ET. She’ll presumably debut her first single off her fifth album, and hopefully announce a release date so fans can begin their countdown to more music about heartbreak, love, and friendship once again. Swift is set to appear on The Tonight Show this Wednesday, and will also perform at the VMAs on Aug. 24.”
Now, I’m assuming this will be a gig of sorts though come to think of it… I guess it might just be a Q&A.. nah, cmon, it has to be an acoustic gig for a handful of friends and family. Anyway, even if 30 years is too long a time between requests for a plus one, this is sure… I’ll be at my pc and I will be watching…
