Taylor Swift in The Giver

Taylor Swift in The Giver

In 1989 Phillip Noyce directed a terrific thriller called “Dead Calm” about this mass murderer who seduces Nicole Kidman and kills an entire boat of people and it is so slow and freaky… it really is awesome, you have to see it. See it instead of the pile of crap whoch is the just another Dystopian future “The Giver”. A major major major disappointment by the same director.

Taylor Swift plays Rosemary who is only in the movie for like 300 seconds tops so who cares, though she has brunette hair and really, I saw Taylor on the increasingly dreary “The Tonight Show” the other day and will somebody please feed the damn girl. Cmon, Taylor, you are too cool to worry about how much you weigh.

Anyway, I would claim she was the best thing in the movie but really she isn’t in it long enough to count. And everybody else, including Jeff Bridges as the title giver (it’s a whole thing…) and Meryl Streep as Governor Cuomo of some little community where all strong emotions are put to be and killing people (mostly the kinda old and the very young).

A post-apocalypse world has been fashioned from the ashtrays of modern history and one person is chosen to keep the memories of the old in a world where emotions are frowned upon. so they can advise if strange situations occur. Don’t blame me, I didn’t writer. Any way, a new receiver (the impossibly bland -who I’ve seen in two movies and can’t remember in the slightest)   Brenton Thwaites is being giving the memories and he sets the story in motion because these feelings are way cool, especially kissing girls and wants things to change. Spoiler alert: they all live happily ever after
