Loser And Winner: Gaga And Perry And Paul McCartney
It is like having car that keeps on breaking down. However good the care looks, it isn’t performing its function. Gaga and Perry aren’t performing their function

Lily also made an appearance on Pink’s The Truth About Love, on the meh-y “True Love”. But still, that would make two songs in four years.
This is King Krule’s week, we just lived through it and more is the pity. The 21st century Billy Bragg looks like he is nine and sings like he is 90. Krule is everything Rolling Stone claimed Jake Buggs is.
The Gram Parson song is a complete masterpiece and I never remember it by name, I always call it “I’m Your Toy” which makes a lot more sense than “Hot Burrito # 1” which makes zero sense to me in passing strange
Im not sure how many times he has said this but it’s old hat. The moment his new wife has had her fill he will skid again and hate all women. “Every Man In America” proved that he is a brutal passive agressive. Stay clear ladies
Emili is a clinging vine who when you wanna go out and get trashed with the boys would cause such a scene that you are stuck watching the X Factor while Emili croons “You won’t find him drinking at the tables, rolling dice and staying out til 3.” Chance would be a fine thing
From fragile pop to pure and quiet lullaby-like melodies, Ira Kaplan was switching place between guitar and keyboard, while Georgia Hubley left her drum set to take the spot behind the mic during a song ‘about Hollywood stars’
Here and there you got the sense of Luca’s vision reaching fruition but when you looked a little closer, DJs like Avicii and Calvin Harris were going all the way to the very edge and pulling back. And Swedish House Mafia were DJs first, second and to the end
“News”, the title track of his October 174th release, is fair to middling. I am not sold on the bridge, but it the chorus is pretty and the hook, , a handful of “ooooos”, is fabulous. And the way he elongates “all my life” seems to do a real neat trick he can’t always many: it sounds deep and trivial: both at the same time
Flashdance… More Than A Feeling– Irene Cara – 1983 – The sight of puberty comes to life in a dancers mover and with Cara of “Fame” fame nailing the exuberant pop plus beats – B+
Elaborate crystal gowns are a bitch to transport and “My Heart Will Go On” sounds great with an all you can eat buffet.
Whatever your feelings about Mick are, there is no doubting his true affinity for soul and blues (he called his first solo album Tribute to Bobby) and as for Van Morrison, this is the sound that he cut his teeth
She said her mom was there, and as a true professional she disappeared and came back for an encore as if she was the headliner of the night… and she actually wasn’t, Holy Ghost! was playing next on the same stage.
The two best songs of the week are here, two shout outs to Neil Young is here, two songs from one of the best rock and roll albums of the year is here, two crazy chicks, and two from a top UK disco band called Rudimental who were so great Wednesday night in Central Park.
But there was no regret as TV on the Radio was fantastic, bringing their funky psychedelia to a powerful level on the Carrie stage. When I say ‘fuck,‘ you say ‘yeah!’ When I say ‘fuck,‘ you say ‘yeah!’ shouted singer Tunde Adebimbe to the crowd, playing with the full name of the festival
He separated himself from the Nashville assembly line crowd by writing and performing not just traditional hard country music (which was a pretty daring artistic statement in 1980), but also by incorporating elements of rock and bluegrass
The choking lyrics are perfection and lyrically- those poshy bastards can wield a pen that’s for sure. Hell, this could be my anthem if shit get cray.
No I don’t expect Spotify to provide them but you better believe I expect Itunes to negotiate on their customers behalf. How can you request 50 cents a song for these songs and not give us the complete (or complete as you can) package
Next, back on the Carrie stage, were The Breeders fronted by ex-Pixies Kim Deal. ‘We were told to play ‘Last Splash’, announced Deal leaving no mystery for their set, and starting to play the 20-year-old album…
I received a $25 coupon and for $25 I was gonna try it but when I went to use it, they would only sell me $80 for the last row and I passed. Now that greed has killed it off
Well then the Lapeer Days Festival in Lapeer Michigan must be one dicy place for apparently Sunday evening the entire story of The Call became and episode of CSI.
The single is like the boy in the club you slowed danced with and kissed around 3am in the morning, you took his number but have no attention of speaking to him again. The single is Mr. Right Now; the album requires a commitment.
Top heavy on the crapola but nothing there is gonna last more than a week and next week there may be some good stuff awaiting to usurp the throne. In the interim, it is exceedingly difficult to take Luke, John and G too seriously
King Krule’s debut album may be major, people are talking about the new Franz Ferdinand and I actually like that album a lot, but Krule sounds like a modern day variant on the Billy Bragg that brought us Life’s A Riot With Spy Vs Spy
He looked calm and stoic, the hyper distortion was still powerful and was absorbing my whole body, making the whole experience more physical than just plain sonic
Jen Lewis’ of Buzzfeeds hysterical and awesome pictures putting Miley Cyrus in great works of art here, works as art, works as satire, works as cultural artifact and is just plain brilliant
I hope that the shock factor was worth it, because now I simply cannot respect her at all. The Hannah Montana days are long gone, and soon, Cyrus is going to hit bottom. I wonder if Amanda Bynes has a spare room for her…
“Losing my parents was big. They were very supportive, my biggest fans. It was harder than I would have imagined. That seeped into my writing a lot, and I thought about life’s fragility.”
The place to be to see many riotous bands (Joyce Manor, Thee Oh Sees, Flag and Death Grip) but, earlier in the afternoon, I managed to catch two cute bands, courageously playing during the hottest hours
When you work so hard getting from A To B, you’d hope it would be over but it had only just begins. At the level Gaga has been playing at, getting there isn’t close to being the trick.
Starting with the desire to bring things back to the beginning, the beginning is way too well and Mathew Mathers 2 won’t do that, if only because Rubin (if not Dre) ain’t gonna let him
Music promoter who introduced the US to the Beatles and the Stones and was the first to put on concerts at Madison Square Garden. H introduced the US to the Rascal (the US thought they were a black band… for obvious reasons) and everybody I know who knew him, says Sid was a real gentleman. He was 95 years old.
Franz Ferdinand who haven’t released new material in four years, have ground to make up and surprisingly enough appear to have done just that but just about everything on this playlist is worth your time.
Jano lived up to the title of their debut release: ERTALE (The most continuously active/erupting volcano in Ethiopia-one of the hottest spots on earth) when they almost literally set S.O.B.’S on fire with their unique blend of traditional Ethiopian melodies and bone shaking, ass kicking rock and roll
Why did the guy bother to go to the show? Who the hell cares-he is there, he paid up and you have no right blowing your snot water down on anyone you has been piece of shit.
I don’t have enough words to explain how much I utterly despise Bruno Mars.
She portrayed Velma in the before its time by 20 years 1975 “Chicago” production, she was Aurora in another underestimated Kander and Ebb musical, “Kiss Of The Spiderwoman” . Ny god, she followed “West Side Story” with “Bye Bye Birdie” and a little later on followed “Sweet Charity” with “Irma La Douce”. She has won the Tony 9 times.
Music festivals may not be the best ways to see your favorite band, but they are another beast which transcends music itself, a sonic orgy with an ambiance that overwhelms you.
From what I’ve heard of this EP (EP? You mean he ain’t dropping an album?), well I am very impressed. The beats, Rick Rubin and Dr. Dre at work, are really alarmingly powerful. They sound heavy hevay heavy. The EP drops November 5th.
The band just came off Warped so its just a month of rest before this new tour begins.. go get um.. Amen.
I am not a huge Big Sean fan but still, he is probably the poppiest arrogant bastard this side of Fabolous and what I’ve heard has been pretty good
1 thru 7 were played at the VMAs on Sunday night and # 1 was a song I was least conceived of on Kweezy’s latest album, now revealed as another flat out masterpiece.
This isn’t the Grammys. It isn’t the state of the art, it is the state of modern pop music. A snapshot of the charts and the charts are in spectacular shape
I’m gonna go ahead and give the band some serious credit for being able to put on a good show, play their instruments in a technically sound and experienced way
I didn’t want to leave Thee Oh Sees, who were playing till 9:30 on the Miranda stage, to go to see TV on the Radio at 9:15 on the Carrie stage! Then I went back to the Miranda stage to see Black Flag at 9:55 and run again to the Carrie stage for Yeah Yeah Yeahs at 10:45!
This is a New York Centric flavored rockabilly, retro Americanaish country sound. She should have been playing at Lincoln Center, and she certainly does have the songs to do it. Many self penned.
I decided to stay and watch. Which was a good decision because now I know to never go and see them again..
Tall and dark, his chin up in the air, he was throwing scary sights at the crowd like a hunted/haunting beast and I wasn’t sure if he wanted to hurt all of us, hurt himself or if he was in deep suffering
The week belonged to Earl Sweatshirt, who singlehandedly released the best Odd Future album since Goblin and the most popular since Channel Orange. PS: Earl was on Channel Orange’s best track as well.
If I could buy your love, I’d truly try, my friend, And if I could pray, my prayer would never end, But if you want me to beg, I’ll fall down on my knees, Asking for you to come back, I’d be pleading for you to come back, Begging for you to come back to me
