This is what the blurb says:
“Direct from London’s West End comes LET IT BE, a spectacular concert experience featuring The Beatles’ greatest hits! Relive The Beatles’ meteoric rise from their humble beginnings in Liverpool’s Cavern Club, through the heights of Beatlemania, to their later studio masterpieces with live performances of songs including “Twist and Shout,” “She Loves You” and “Drive My Car,” as well as the legendary “Yesterday,” “Hey Jude,” “Come Together” and, of course, “Let It Be.” Come sing, dance and scream like a fan on “The Ed Sullivan Show” at this sensational celebration of
rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest band.”
This is what we heard: another Beatle cover band for a hundred bucks a pop and up? I think not.
When the show was previewing a month ago, I received a $25 coupon and for $25 I was gonna try it but when I went to use it, they would only sell me $80 for the last row and I passed. Now that greed has killed it off and the Beatles extravaganza is closing at the St James on September 1st, and let it be a lesson. There may be a way to make money off the Beatles on Broadway. Perhaps a live version of “Help” might do it, if they can figure out stuff like minuature Paulie or something, some bright spark might be able to get “Help” up and on stage. Who knows?
One thing is now certain, no more Beatlemanias. Those days are long gone.
Especially at these prices.
