Rolf Harris Sentenced to Five Years For Child Abuse

To claim it is an aberration is sophistication, it happens all the time because children are vulnerable and people are unscrupulous. To claim children are in a state of grace denies the reality of the world around them. And to claim most people don’t feel attracted to children may well be true but that doesn’t change that millions upon millions of people are attracted to children.

Sneak Peaks: New Album Releases week of July 7th, 2014

My feeling about Sia is something like, there isn’t an EDM track her tender, lush but very powerful voice can’t make better but without the dressing, her songs aren’t as strong as they need to be. But I could be wrong and so she gets the album of the week (round one). Industrial dance isn’t my scene but “Last Tangle In Paris” is the album title of the year.

The most misunderstood song of the 1980s but it isn’t the audiences fault, Bruce wrote a chorus which is about as huge an anthem as humanly possible: “Born in the USA, I’m a cool rocking daddy in the USA’ begs to become a national anthem and did. And his brother is still all gone – A+

One resident said the music at last year’s Riot Fest was so loud he had to close his windows. “I don’t want the traffic and the noise and the nasty things that are sold there,” Avery said. “Hold your riot someplace else, and let us Byers residents live in peace and quiet.”

Jay Z And Beyonce On The Run Annotated And Spotified Setlist

As promised, an annotated jay Z and Beyonce setlist plus a Spotify (except for bey’s last album mostly). Impressive… to a degree and they do go deep enough, right? Here and there they trade off songs (“Hard Knock” followed by “Pretty Huts”) and sometimes they have little run of songs, but it isn’t two separate shows: they comingle freely.

Test Your Musical Abilities Here!

You can actually do four different musical tests, a Tonedeaf test, an adaptive Pitch test, a rhythm test and an Associative Musical Visual intelligence test. I scored quite high for some, and quite low for others! But I have no musical training whatsoever, and I have never learned music, so musicians probably have an advantage, at least I suppose.

Music: The New Reality TV

Ah, yes, reality. Now that the script writers of reality shows are suing for royalties the question as to what is real becomes murkier though Lennon’s “nothing is real” probably comes closest. And this sense of nothing is real invaded the music world this week.

Dolly Parton: "Not Lip Syncing At Glastonbury"

So when after this weekend’s Glastonbury Festival, the usual complaints about her failure to actually, well, sing, this was her short and sweet reply to the UK tabloid The Sun: “My boobs are fake, my hair’s fake, but what is real is my voice and my heart. Her Rep said: “She sings live. Some people don’t know an amazing singer when they hear one.”

I’ve been bemoaning the state of hip hop all year, but two really good Black Hippy albums, plus a fair to middle EP from Cam’ron is making me feel much better about the world at large. Especially the Ab Soul album, I don’t deny Control System was a great album but for some reason it took the new one for me to really hear it.

Portland Adores You

As someone who has spent some years along with 2 other colleagues researching what is known of Elliott Smith’s passing, maybe I’m the wrong kind of person to review this film. This list is not exclusively based on money (otherwise Dr Dre is way richer than Beyonce) but on plain power, like the number of mentions in print, TV and radio, and the impact on social medias such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Anyway, Beyonce is rich because sex sells and she has certainly put her booty before whatever talent she has
