Wait a second, Brown, Usher and Ross? Personally, I am amazed Ross is still kicking but he really is a great rapper and this is a soulful, more Usher than Brown track. Personally, I was disappointed by “Blame” -relatively speaking of course. I’m guessing John Newman gave it the magic juice.
Hell, this is so weird, things take forever to move on the Singles charts, and for the second week there is precisely one new song and two changes in position with “Happy” dropping out and “Maps” dropping in and i have admitted in public before that I like Adam Levine, and this is as good a Police update as you’ll hear. I haven’t seen Iggy on stage but I have seen Ariane and she was the pits. It’s the Lana Del Rey syndrome, a production creation that can not translate on to stage. But so what? Don’t see her live. Both “Problem” and “Fancy are great songs. That’s all.
Sneaky Freak – Imelda May – No nonsense rockabilly via Ireland and it makes you wonder why the UK are, and always have been, bigger rockabilly sneak freaks than the US. This is no nonsense stuff – B+
Nice little chart they’ve got going for em here. Take out Legend and there isn’t a dog in the lot and Calvin Harris newbie might well be a summer hit this year. Fabulous House triumph on every level and an all round great song.
I’ve Seen It All – Bjork – Off her Lar Von Trier movie, this is a spectacular nursery rhyme set to the chugachug of a train with smart aphorisms like “All walls are great if the roof doesn’t fall” while enhancing the strange sad “pennies from heaven” storyline – A
Coming Of Age – Foster The People – This song makes a promise the album couldn’t keep, but this heavy textured beat and strong melodic mood seemed as though the band could move forward from “Pumpked Up Kicks” into a post-modern indie hybrid sound – A-
Where are the Christmas songs? Only Lily Allen constitutes one and none of the others has hit the top ten yet, where is Susan Boyle, Lucy Spraggan, the Fishwives Choirs (no really) and, er, AC/DC. Cowell is pushing SIX X factor songs, none of which are her.
An alright, Englishy, Christmasy, feel goody type of charts, with Elle, Lily, McFly, Barlow, 1D and more with English-y sweety sticky love makes me strong-y four little word-y let’s hold hands to process guitars and programmed drums
