DJ Calvin Harris Remix, The Killers’ ‘When You Were Young’

waiting for some beautiful boy

The Kilers tune “When You Were Young” was released in 2006 and it is a fantastic song.  Stirring up the memories of innocent youth the band gives you a big sound anthem to disapointment.  Brandon Flowers voice, despite its uncomfortable highness is powerful enough to make them shoutable lyrics.  “He doesnt look a think like Jesus”.

We as a society can’t leave well enough alone and the DJ remix fad is going nowhere fast enough.  Here to stay a human and knobs take amazing songs and transform them into- well.. dance tunes.  With the thump and the escalation a typical tune becomes a Molly needing pulse.   DJ Calvin Harris, from Scotland took on this classic Killers tune and made it into a fist pumping gyration.

I love covers, I love remakes and although ‘remix’ is a stupid catagory I appreciate them for what they are.  Lke a song in puzzle pieces thrown into mid hair and where ever they land is how the song will play out.  Add some thumps, womps and wahhz and a techno twitter and kerplow dance hit.

“I feel like this puts a long of things in perspective,” he said of Direct Hits‘ place in the Killers canon.”When I look at it, I’m really proud of it, but I’m also really excited about evolving and growing. I look at the songs that maybe are my favorites on it, and maybe I’m wondering if I need to conjure up those spirits, if they’re still in there.”

It’s not bad, it’s even sorta fun.  Check it out below
