In her debut album, MIA protegee Rte Rte makes exactly one mistep, and it stars Ethel Merman. Otherwise, this is as bright and shiny a rhythmic artifact as the album cover, with MIA on 3 tracks, Robyn on one, and Akon on a song of the year. This is how modern pop is done. Grade: A-
Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole – Martha Wainwright – So, without further ado, Martha takes her place besides her parents and big brother as major as major can be with this folkie slash and burn condemnation of her famous Daddy – Grade: A+
Everyone in the Wainwright family became fair game for Loudon’s often acerbic music. Martha received a parental divorce notification in “Your Mother and I” and a birthday song for “Five Years Old.” His breast feeding son was the subject of “Rufus Is a Tit Man.”
I was real disappointed and it has me thinking whether I overestimated the album. Justin has perfected the art of fake intimacy, maybe he wants to try the real thing and see how far that gets him.
In anticipation of this full-length album, they are giving away their newest song ‘1997’ for a limited time, and you should definitively take advantage of this opportunity as the explosive epic track is as catchy as many of their previous and other energetic songs
Now I already knew Sins to be a wonderful intelligent guy with a hipster flair and a way with words but what I found most startling tonight was the watching what a brilliant actor he is. In his first production he not only stole the show he stole the hearts and minds of every audience member.
The vibe it gives off is so chill and makes me really happy- I was in an instant good mood once I heard it. It’s one of the best feelings, and I always got it when listening to TAI…, so it’s so nice to see that Beckett can still carry that out and bring me back those feelings.
Beth Ditto at one point, but may be you can’t blame them as the band didn’t seem to be really into it, Beth butchered a little bit the lyrics at one point and their arrangement was a little sloppy, but I would say in a good way! At least, they were not trying to take the easy road

don’t know Only Sons material particular well and though I did know “It’s A Boy” a dystopia about the pre-ordained manufacturing of a child’s life, and iit didn’t connect here. Jack’s voie is a little on the light side and taking up about a third of the stage, nothing he did could really connect with us.

After White, Tank is the album to get The man looks like a Tank and has a pretty way with an r&b ballad and though he is buried alive in the usual production goop, the man has real talent.
A flat out masterpiece off her up coming album, stopped the show on Tuesday. Smashed, cascading piano notes beat on the hope disappointment choruses, while Regina gets her full fledged pop ballad on in the verses. This needs to break pop big time – Grade: A
The set was so well paced but it was hard not to be. Regina has so many great songs but is really a schticky chick: she pulls out the Music Hall “Sailor Song” and is as willing to go deep into her Russian roots and pull out a gypsy folkie refrain as an glammy popness or a classical U Turn.
But wow they are really re-launching this CBGB thing full time! A new location, a music festival and now a movie, it is difficult not to see an exploitation of the famous name behind all this

Justin Vernon is a lugubrious bore but his songs can hook you if you don’t have your guard up and while his falsetto at first sounds a form of torture Obama has made illegal against Al Qaeda terrorists (or soldiers: tomatoes, tomartoes), it has grown on me after being inescapable for years
Only The Horses – Scissor Sisters – A loss leader from their upcoming album, this is a disco ballad which takes advantage of Jake’s falsetto on a song that isn’t all there. There is better on the way. – Grade: B
it’s so bombastic and theatrical it could be an Arcade Fire tune sung by Nick-Cave-meets-Ziggy-Stardust, whereas its title is so long it could compete with any Fiona Apple’s song.
This is a minor masterpiece of mellow, far from Hollywood slumming, it is a very fine interpretation of some famous, some half forgotten , classic radio songs. If Rita chooses to do a follow up, may I suggest Bread’s “Everything I Own”?
