Tenacious D is back with a third album ‘Rize of the Fenix’, and the two funny frontmen gave a weird interview on Reuters,… I am sure none of this should be taken seriously, but these two went on and on about how good their music is and how they are going to save rock’ n’ roll,… as we say the shortest jokes are the best ones, but when this drags for a whole interview, is it still a joke?
Jack Black told Reuters: ‘Since we had our last album, rock and roll completely died. Thank God for The D, riding in on their white stallions to rescue rock and roll’
‘What killed it? Was it Axl Rose in the library with a wrench, or was it Lady Gaga in the pantry with the pliers? We don't know but we'll figure it out’
Ok that’s a little funny, they are playing the big come back in this new world of half-dead rock’ n’ roll and they want to resuscitate with a giant joke that they think should be taken seriously at the end,… as this is what bothers Jack Black the most, not being taken seriously:
‘I do love (Jack White's) ‘Blunderbuss’, I love the Foo, I love Tom Waits, his new record is incredible … and Goyte … but our album is better than all of those, and because we're clowns, we don't get that kind of love’
What is he talking about? Better than Waits? How can he even compare Tenacious D to the eccentric Waits? Waits doesn’t even habit the same world, he’s too Tom Waits for rock’ n’ roll,.. but Goyte? Black continued with this:
‘In a hundred years' time, no one will remember Gotye or the rest, but the shining beacon of The D — they're going to start religions after us.’
There, he may have a point.
