Well, I know for sure what is not the most anticipated new album of net week (late next week to be precise), and that would be the new Jason Isbell, one of the biggest disappointments of 2015. I have a full review in mind, maybe by Sunday, and will not be a happy thing at all. Alan Jackson? He sucked so bad at Carnegie Hall a coupla years ago, I am not too thrilled any more. Pitbull releases album after song after album, Chemical Brothers -wasn’t crazy about the single. I think I’ll go with the psychedelic weirdos who were so good at Governors Ball earlier this year, win first place.

I hope to be a little more discriminating in 2015, and weeded this list down from 60 songs. I also want to be more careful, my consumer bound. I plan three lists. One, best songs of the year, two best songs of the month and three very best songs of the year. Say the top thirty or so. The deside is not to have the unwieldy lists of last to as much a dregree as possible. This is (more or less) in order but my Top 20 is in definitive order

My bet is they will be back in 2016 as well and end it all in London around two years from now, Pete and Roger make 50 million a piece and live happily ever after. I also really hope they get Wilko Johnson, if he is still kicking, one of the great disappointments in the Daltry-Johnson tour didn’t make it to New York. The film I saw was superior to the Who last year.

Full blown CD’s of acoustic songs are not my normal cup of tea but at least I didn’t cringe or quit listening to any of these songs in disgust. Zak Smith can write a song with melody and I imagine the Springsteen influences and comparisons will level out in the future. If I were to grade this I would give this a B .

IIt’s a weird realization, feeling like I’ve grown out of who I’ve considered my favorite musician for years. I’ll still listen to him, I don’t skip Bright Eyes when it comes up on shuffle, but his newer work doesn’t appeal to me and some of his older stuff is unlistenable. Conor’s grown up, and I have too, and we’ve gone our separate ways.
