Johnny Aries bangs his drums
Johnny Aries bangs his drums

1. Unbloomed – Johnny Aries – The difference between Johnny and his former band The Drums (I mean the Drums of the first two albums) is swing, which Aries doesn’t do enough on this the title track of his new album. But the mood? The mood is very similar – B+

2. My Favorite Thing – Kem – This is an average song of a difficult and well above verage genre, so average means really good. Ronald Isley sounds awesome – B+

3. Starman – David Bowie – He had no one to phone, so he picked on me – A+

4. Some Dreams Come True – SW/MM/NG – These guys remind me of Belle And Sebastian, without the folksiness, and in a good way – B

5. When I Kissed You – Gemma Ray – Yeah, off-kilter, got it – B+

6. Ain’t Looking For Love – American Young – Put it this way, it ain’t much – C

7. Wonder What You’re Doing For The Rest Of Your Life – Train, Marsha Ambrosius – Maroon 5ish track and pretty good. Maybe the first song they’ve ever recorded I haven’t hated. Marsha helps, of course – B+

8. The Devil Is All Around – Shovel & Rope – yeah, American, got it – B

9. Say I Won’t – LeCrae – Born again rapper, and he actually knows how to rap – B

10. Me and Jesus – Brad Paisley – He should try sincerity, or at least better song writing, more often – B
