rock nyc’s fave electric urban blues band Adventures In Bluesland have just released the video for their Presleyesque “Our Lucky Day”, a hip swaying, joyous, hopeful retro song of seduction, like it could be Sun Sessions? Maybe Elvis Is Back? The song belongs to the rhythm section, who have a steamroller chugging beat that Phil rides with absolute confidence. Plus, a video which, like the album cover and the album itself, sways from then and now.
The 50s/15s concept is enhanced by producer/director Prefab International Cine, filming it at “Bel Air Motel” (which looks like LA but isn’t) , with pulp fiction novels and glamor movie star magazines scattered about and cool guy Phil Gammage singing to an unseen lady love. It is bright and also faded, like a Philip Marlowe summer, the “77 Sunset Strip” album is no coincidence. Just in time for the harmonica solo, we are on stage with the band, and when the vocals come back we cut between the two till the end.
Filmed at various motels in Wildwood Crest, NJ, there is something so displaced about the motel shots it seems to be waiting on Robert Mitchum to displace it in time. The live footage was filmed in NYC.
rock nyc is proud to present the exclusive world premiere for the official music video from Adventures in Bluesland for their song ‘Our Lucky Day.’ From their debut album The American Dream on World Wide Vibe Records.
It must be our lucky day as well.
