I still think Kanye West is a poser and his long rants still don’t make any sense to me, but apparently not everyone shares my point of view and even Academy Awards nominated Steve McQueen admires West’s work. He likes it so much that he has directed the rapper’s new video, which will make its American debut on Saturday July 15th at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

The video is entitled ‘All Day/I Fell Like That’ and it will run in a gallery for 4 days during regular museum hours. It is not a world premiere as Kanye already showed it, where else? At the Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris! Here is a description of the mini movie by The New York Times:

‘Filmed in a single nine-minute take at the Chatham Dockyard in southeast England, the video follows Mr. West through an empty warehouse as he runs, crouches, dodges, raps, rants, sweats and pants, as if being pursued by the camera or the police or in pursuit himself, until he slumps against the wall to catch his breath. At several points Mr. McQueen’s focus is so tight that Mr. West’s face cuts in and out of the frame. At one point, the camera keeps its distance as Mr. West raises hands above head in a gesture of surrender. The video contains a version of Mr. West’s recent release “All Day,” which segues into another single from his coming album, currently known as “SWISH.”

Nothing too original from this brief description, but I can’t tell… The ’12 Years a Slave’ director is such a big Kanye fan they he interviewed him for Interview magazine a little while ago, and yes, it is a love fest with Kanye’s usual grandiloquence: ‘I’m a trained fine artist. I went to art school from the time I was 5 years old. I was, like, a prodigy out of Chicago.’… ‘when I compare myself to Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, Howard Hughes, or whoever, it’s because I’m trying to give people a little bit of context to the possibilities that are in front of me’… well, what’s new?

When McQueen reveals his love for his ‘Bound 2’ video, and compares it to a Prince video, obviously a great compliment, Kanye brings the fact he is a Gemini like Tupac, Biggie, Prince and so a creative one… oh yeah he apparently believes in astrology which just confirms my opinion about Kanye! The interview is very long and at the end you can almost hear Kanye screaming he is really making sense. Okay Kanye, may be I will go see your video at LACMA, but don’t ask me to believe this.
