Recorded: White Reaper’s debut album is a stealth attack, a hard hitting poppy explosion of old school rock and roll -let’s hope it gets some traction. Also, Jeff Tweedy has released the first album of half way decent music in a decade or so. It starts off a little iffy, but steadies itself to the closing bell.

Live: The Foos at Citi Fields and U2 at MSG: the difference between wannabes and are classic rockers. If the reports are to be believed, this is the U2 show to beat.

News: The world in huge disagreement: The South versus the North, Shiites vs Sunnis, Greece versus Germany, in other words, same as it ever was. It is hard to pick a side, you know… you’ve heard of no good choices? well, welcome to nothing but bad choices. Though in the annals of bad choices, the Nuclear Treaty with Iran is better than most.

Death: Nick Cave’s fifteen year old son Arthur fell off a cliff and died, and while I think when you write about other people’s tragedies, or even try to share in it if you don’t know the person, is the fear of appropriating their sorrow. But there is no stopping this horror story from infecting anybody who comes close to it.
