The Black Keys have sued companies in the past for using their songs in advertising without their consent, so the fact that they chose an animal cause for their first consenting ad, is a very good point for them…Take that Jack White!

As bad as Lazeretto is, the vinyl sounds awesome: it plays backwards and forwards, there is a holagram of an angel, alternative songs depending on where you put the needle down. The result? The vinyl alone sold an astonishing 40,000 copies and vinyl alone? White would have been at # 4 on the charts. Meanwhile, that country album? Painfully bad.

The Black Key's "Turn Blue" Reviewed

After listening to this damn thing more times than I wanted to in my worst nightmare, I guess it isn’t… no, it is terrible. I guess I like Dan’s falsetto here and there and Patrick is a good drummer but it is a bad album which just plain doesn’t add up and any particular time. Well played and deeply felt, it is over arranged and enervating.

Spotify Message To You

It reminds me of those stupid subway “There is a traffic ahead of us, we are sorry for the inconvenience”. No, you’re not sorry, you’re a machine you have no feelings. So is Spotify. It is a software machine and it isn’t working hard because if it was it’d have El Camino. It is just sliughing you off with an inane and irritating comment.

Sneak Peaks: New Record Releases May 12th, 2014

Did you read the Rolling Stone Black Keys review? “In every other way, that turmoil is a giant step into the best, most consistently gripping album the Keys have ever made.” I’ve heard one song and it stank so please excuse me while I sneer up my sleeves. I am gonna go with either Blondie -though it includes that EP from last year with Gossip which I liked I didn’t love. As for Dolly Parton, her last albu was killer so maybe it’s more a toss up.
