Lou Reed died in October of 2014 and like just about any other public feature- he became a God. I find it a bore how the bandwagon fills up just cuz someone kicks the bucket. This in no way is directed to those true fans or even casual fans but rather those who suddenly loved him all their life- yet cannot name one thing he did other than “Walk On The Wild Side”. I understand (really I don’t) how easy it is to get caught up in the excitement of fresh death but the roar is so loud and annoying, it becomes a joke.
Mind you Lou isn’t the first nor will he be the last dead guy to be a teenagers hero but he is top of the heap right now- so grab your wallet’s.
Yep you can now buy his belongings on eBay. Oh how we love to buy dead peoples stuff. Like a ghost from the netherworld Lous Facebook page had the following statement:
“While all of his most important guitars, amps and effects will be kept by Sister Ray Enterprises for his archive, there are many pieces of gear that need to be sold.
“A wide variety of items will be available. All of these were kept at Sister Ray Enterprises and were used by Lou and his band on tour. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to own a piece of music history.”
Tacky? Hell yes it is mostly because they “need to be sold”. The good news is it isn’t his teeth or other absurd artifacts as we have seen with other artists- this is guitars, racks and assorted stage gear.
