Miley Cyrus: Kids Need Time To Grow Up

Miley and Justin

Miley and Justin

I was reading the other day about a 12 year old boy who stabbed his parents to death and is to be tried as an adult. Apparently, you are a child until you are 21 in the States unless you commit a murder at which time you suddenly grow ten years overnight.

I mention this not in support of murdering your parents but in support of Justin Bieber (and Miley Cyrus) neither of whom have killed anyone yet but both of whom are paying a huge price for growing up in public where suddenly being 14 years old is not an excuse for being stupid.

I am referring specifically to Justin’s infamous “one less lonely n—-“ video from when he was fifteen. I don’t believe any one in their right mind believes a guy as obsessed with black music as Bieber is, is a racist. It hits me as just an excuse to beat up on the kid.

In an interview on Australian TV, born again voice of reason had this to say: “’I think people should have time to grow up and figure out who they are. I think people need to sit and think of the times in their lives they were not proud of who they were. Imagine if that was completely exploited and everyone had their opinions.”

Usher added: “As I have watched Justin Bieber navigate difficult waters as a young man, I can tell you that he hasn’t always chosen the path of his greatest potential, but he is unequivocally not a racist. What he was 5 years ago was a naive child who did not understand the negative power and degradation that comes from playing with racial slurs. What he is now is a young man faced with an opportunity to become his best self, an example to the millions of kids that follow him to not make the same mistakes.”
