Glen Tilbrook Happy Ending US Tour

that beard... why?
that beard… why?

Glen Tilbrook of the super duper legendary band Squeeze flies solo into the US for a tour.  A spiffy new album has some of the most explanation laden tunes I have seen in forever.  Dig this

The optimistically titled Happy Ending features Tilbrook serving new material such as “Rupert” inspired by media mogul Rupert Murdoch and described as “more appealing than he deserves.”  Other tracks include the orchestral “Persephone” as well as “Kev And Dave” about two brothers running a pub. The album also includes Tilbrook’s poignant composition about Beach Boy Dennis Wilson in a track simply entitled “Dennis.”

What ever became of just a platter full of tunes? Suddenly each offering comes with a biography.  Clam it.  I love Squeeze and Tilbrooks voice is golden so this is a pretty nifty tour in nice sized venues

Squeeze was and will always be one of the most memorable bands of the 80s to this day I adore their work and find myself belting out random lyrics at the oddest times.  Granted, this tour is not Squeeze but just the blonde guy but still- he was the pipes so you can be sure he’s throwing in some classics and that alone is reason to attend.

The album “Happy Endings” is out now so you can grab that and now know the meaning of the songs!
