At any moment, Kanye West is in the news: someone going with the ‘Kanye West’s New Testament’ moniker, has been sending some of these postcards (above) showing a statue of David, and advertising a YouTube montage of 34 minutes. I kid you not, this thing lasts 34 minutes and ‘artistically’ promotes Kanye West’s best (and by this. understand the most ridiculous) quotes. Expect to be bombarded with Greek statues, amazon forests, landscapes, people lifting weights or jumping from airplanes or tall buildings,… races, fights, Nike sneakers,… people daring elephants, lions, polar bears, crocodiles, snakes,… rowdy Christmas shopping,… Channel, Coke and Pepsi commercials,… news, Muhammed Ali, Andy Warhol, Walt Disney, babies, cosmos and other ‘inspirational images’ along with some ‘inspirational quotes’; it is one of the most random and hilarious thing I have seen this week.
Is Kanye West the new prophet? The new chosen one? The material is impressive, I had no idea Kanye’s insane verbal diarrhea could fit so well basically… with anything as long as it is scored by Jonny Greenwood’s ‘There will be Blood’,… or is it ‘the Master’? It’s so ironic!
But the question is: what are people gonna make of this? Is Andrew Michael Stubbs – who seems to be the editor of the video – making a joke or a statement? His mini film is like the ultimate Kanye West documentary, an epic super production about a guy who has become more famous for his empty statements declared with grandiosity and egomania than anything else he has ever accomplished. However, I bet all the quotes can be found in this ‘Kanye West self-confidence generator’. I did not receive the postcard by the way.
