Outernational At The Satellite, Saturday August 18th 2012

The Brooklyn band had plenty of it and didn’t let anybody breathe a second during the release party for their new EP ‘Future Rock’, playing song after song with the same passion and fire in the belly. This is a group of people who live through what they believe, the revolution through music.

Not With The Band: Can Music Really Change The World?

In the US, we tend to have forgotten about this, popular music has mostly turned into entertainment for youth and can be summed up by herds of teenager girls in heat calling themselves ‘Beliebers’ and spoiled teenager boys admiring grown-up men rapping about rolex and Lamborghinis

Shepard Fairey And Neil Young's Collaboration For 'Americana'

Each painting has managed to capture the message of a song, like the one related to ‘Oh Susannah’, which features a dungaree-wearing banjo player with the text ‘Don’t you cry for me’, or the one related to ‘God Save the Queen’, showing an iconic image of Queen Elizabeth embroidering an American flag.

Michael Kiwanuka At Amoeba, Wednesday August 15th 2012

‘The truth is there was no intention behind any of it. There was no intention for my voice to sound old. The songs come out like they do because I like the sound of stuff like that. I didn’t start writing songs to get a record deal. I wrote songs to express myself and they ended up sounding old.’

Tom Morello Reacts To Paul Ryan Declaring That Rage Against The Machine Is His Favorite Band

‘Paul Ryan’s love of Rage Against the Machine is amusing, because he is the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades. Charles Manson loved the Beatles but didn’t understand them. Governor Chris Christie loves Bruce Springsteen but doesn’t understand him. And Paul Ryan is clueless about his favorite band, Rage Against the Machine.’

It was totally logical for them to open for the band from Modesto, as Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray have also formed this Admiral Radley side project with Grandaddy’s own Jason Lytle, so to speak, we were between friends. And the public was sending the same vibe, with many ‘I love you’ and other forms of affection.

Kill Rock Stars Releases Elliott Smith's Alternate Version Of 'Punch and Judy'

If ‘Needle in the Hay’ and ‘Alameda’ were alt-releases still close to the original songs, this new one is quite different from the version we all know, featured on ‘Either/Or’. I would even say that it is a totally different song, the music and the lyrics are totally reworked and the ‘new’ song (to us) has taken another direction around the traditional puppet show characters, the violent Punch beating his wife Judy.

Not With The Band: Can You Enjoy The Music When You Hate The Lyrics?

So do you imagine Ryan, the guy who wants to cut social welfare, harm the poor and enrich the rich, screaming with Zack de la Rocha his despise for capitalist greed while using the elliptical machine at the gym? RAMT doesn’t only empower you to run faster, but they want you to participate into a social revolution, and Ryan has just declared he believes ‘our rights come from nature and God’!

Young Hunting At The Echo, Thursday August 9th 2012

There certainly was sadness but also a real serenity coming from the music, with fuzzy or reverb-soaked guitars, the use of a muted trumpet or a keyboard on some songs and smooth vocals. They were five on stage and I have seen bands of 2 or 3 being much louder than they were, but that was not their point

Saint Motel's Quirky New Video For '1997'

The band is well known for its cinematic abilities and this last one doesn’t disappoint. Directed by frontman/vocalist A/J Jackson (with help from many friends), it was filmed at The famous Dresden in Los Angeles. The band describes it as an out of body experience while they are watching ‘a sinister version of the world famous lounge singers Marty & Elayne’.
