More Details About Jonny Greenwood's Soundtrack For Paul Thomas Anderson's Upcoming Movie, 'The Master'

Once again, Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood will score a Paul Thomas Anderson’s movie, as there is no reason to change a winning team! Let's be clear, ‘The Master’, which stars Phil Seymour-Hoffman in the role of a charismatic intellectual whose faith-based organization (to be translated tax-exempt organization) begins to catch on in America in the 50s, and Joaquin Phoenix in the role of a drifter who becomes his right-hand man, has nothing to do with Ron L Hubbard and scientology,… yeah right!

Greenwood, who had previously composed the disturbing soundtrack for Anderson’s Oscar winning film ‘There Will be Blood’, has this time written 11 original tracks, and six of them were performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra. The soundtrack, which will be released on Nonesuch Records on September 11, will also feature recordings by Ella Fitzgerald, Jo Stafford, Madisen Beaty and Helen Forrest, Here is the complete tracklist:

01. Overtones
02. Time Hole
03. Back Beyond
04. Get Thee Behind Me Satan (Ella Fitzgerald)
05. Alethia
06. Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree (With Anyone Else but Me) (Madisen Beaty)
07. Atomic Healer
08. Able-Bodied Seamen
09. The Split Saber
10. Baton Sparks
11. No Other Love (Jo Stafford)
12. His Master’s Voice
13. Application 45 Version 1
14. Changing Partners (Helen Forrest)
15. Sweetness of Freddie

I really can’t wait for this next great piece of cinema to be released (September 14 in NYC and LA!). There was a secret screening in Los Angeles in August, and people who got the chance to see the movie, were raving about it and tweeting there were Oscars all over it.

Here is the trailer, and you can hear some of this Greenwood’s intriguing score.
