Silversun Pickups To Romney: Stop Using Our Song!

Once again politicians and especially Republicans haven't pay attention to the songs' lyrics!! It was already unbelievable to imagine Paul Ryan listening to Rage Against The Machine, and now it is reported that Romney made Los Angeles-based band Silversun Pickups mad for using their song ‘Panic Switch’.

First of all, it seems that Republicans will never learn anything and will always try to use songs without the permission of artists and that's absolutely unforgivable.

Secondly, this is counter-productive for two reasons: the bands, except if it is Ted Nugent, will always ask them to cease using their songs and, since they really don't get the lyrics, they usually end up using a song not serving the purpose of their campaign. In this last case, the artists didn't even want to bother as explained Silversun Pickups lead singer-guitarist Brian Aubert in a statement issued Wednesday clearly saying they ‘has no intention of endorsing the Romney campaign’:

‘We don't like people going behind our backs, using our music without asking, and we don't like the Romney campaign. We're nice, approachable people. We won't bite. Unless you're Mitt Romney! We were very close to just letting this go because the irony was too good. While he is inadvertently playing a song that describes his whole campaign, we doubt that 'Panic Switch' really sends the message he intends.’

Yes indeed! Mitt Romney and his campaign advisers are total idiot or what?  Do you want to send your supporters in a panic attack mood? Because this is what the song is all about! ‘When you see yourself in a crowded room/Do your fingers itch are you pistol whipped’,.. wow, having a panic attack in the middle of a crowd during all this campaign meet-up, plus a gun reference,… they couldn’t have picked a better song to serve them.

Of course, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul declared to Fox News that ‘the song was inadvertently played during the setup for one event before Romney arrived’, and that ‘this is not a song we would have played intentionally’, as if the song had magically appeared on their tape or whatever they use!

Here is the song if you have never listened to it, and the least I can say is that it is a dark, rushing ride,… a reassuring tune it ain’t!
