Live: Old 97’s and Lydia Loveless failed to change the world on Tuesday, though they were both pretty good, still it ended up being the weekend of Governors Ball and with weather to dream for I dashed from one great gig to another and was sure the better for it. You gotta try it out next year, the only Festival you can grab the subway home from.
Recorded: Platinum is such a terrific album it seems to have taken over my stereo, except for Lyn Bowtell, but Lyn isn’t out till July any way. The new Bob Mould is no slouch either. And I still haven’t given Shinobi Ninja the listening I want to.
US: I am not sure about the POW switch for 5 members of the Taliban but I do know this, if he deserted he should be jailed, if he betrayed secrets he should be killed.Morrissey
Sports: Speaking of being killed: the Yanks and the Mets are getting slaughtered. The Mets were swept by the Cubs. The Cubs? And the Yanks are down to one pitcher and 4 games outta first and 1/2 a game out of the wild card… maybe it is time for fresh blood in upper management. If the Rangers win the Stanley Cup expect the apocalypse to follow soon after.
Movies: Before we close the book on “Maleficent”, a moments silence for the poor mother, completely forgotten by husband, fairies, and worst of all Aurora.
Morrissey: Yes, much to Helen and Mary’s joy, he didn’t cancel. But was it worth it?
