Sneak Peak: New Album Releases Week Of November 11th, 2013
Obviously Gaga is the biggie but since I’ve already reviewed it, I’m gonna namecheck Welsh Singer Cate Le Bon, whose Cyrk was excellent and blew me away at Mercury Lounge last year

‘I cold-turkeyed. For weeks and weeks, I didn’t smoke at all. And now I smoke a little bit at night, just, you know, for fun – but not to cope. That’s the difference. Marina was the only person who could get me to do that, and it was not intended to be rehab.’
I know I’ve been writing “Applause” is good not great, but it is great compared to the rest of this crap and it is great in context, closing down ARTPOP
Glad Tidings Take 9 – Van Morrison – Now available on Spotify, this version, a slower, sweeter, more powerful than the version on Moondance, is, alone, worth the time it took to piss off Van and archive the studio sessions – A+
ARTPOP sounds like Lady Gaga’s version of Madonna’s Music, a breather and a makeover, but with everything just a little better. Already significantly superior to Born This Way, it may well end up being a Thanksgiving Turkey before Thanksgiving is here and I am not sure why musically.
The same three top three songs for 7 weeks and counting and the rest of the songs have been most bubbling around for a month or so.
Gaga’s voice, doing its best Christina Aguilera impression, and Kelly’s autotuned moaning and crooning vocals will probably please the fans, and I am sure that the tune is going to be fine (even big) in dance clubs all over the planet, but the song is totally unoriginal like the supposedly sexy lyrics ‘Do what you want with my body’?
This woman is really trying too much, she is trying to be this all-time light-jazz-easy-listening singer and this edgy provocative-dresser-pseudo-artsy-fame-monster, she wants to be everything so that, at the end, we don’t know who or even what she is anymore. Too much is too much,
I would not care at all if it were not for these shouting bras,… move over Katy Perry! But what’s the hell Charlie Sheen and Mel Gibson are doing there? I see it’s supposed to be edgy, super violent, with sexy women and controversial actors trying to scream louder than Gaga, good luck with that!
This week, the album charts are a disgrace BUT that could change overseven days, meanwhile the singles chart are a lively mess of pop and dance vying for your attention in a fight to the death.
