Emeli Sande sucked so bad when I saw her at Central Park a coupla years ago, but she has a terrific voice and before she turns into Adele or Amy Winehouse (I know, Amy has a good excuse…). Still, as house disco ballads, this is pretty hot stuff.
When EDM connects to a song now, it doesn’t change it in any fundamental sense. It doesn’t change the way sound sounds in your ears the way rock and roll does. It is parasitic, not giving birth to different sounds but sucking dry every single thing it touches.
There is a satirical series on French TV, very inspired by the British show Spitting image, which makes fun of Guetta all the time. In one episode, a piano maker is tailoring a piano for Guetta, and of course the piano has only one note
Union J are a boy band with a hit, Taylor we know, and the other new releases are dance except Guetta, which is dance as well of course, but dance as a soundtrack to a Western shoot em up and pretty good stuff. Dunno how he snuck a new one out without me knowing.
Shot Me Down with Skylar Grey – David Guetta – One of the most thoroughly irrelevant dance tracks Guetta has put his name on since 2010, “Bang Bng” is given a stop start tempo. Skylar’s well sub Nancy Sinatra vocal interrupted by lashings of bass and drums. Mildly irritating – B
It’s 2:30A and I am wide awake. What I really want to do is go back to sleep but I know myself too well. I’ll lay here for an hour or so and not fall asleep until about 4A which typically would be okay but I really want to go to the gym and Spin at 5:30A
Added Katy Perry because my heart rate elevated too quickly and Roar does not have as many BPMs as some of the other songs. Removed Van Halen Running With the Devil because it just did not work with the rest of the mix. Added I’m on Fire at the end because I needed a cool down song.
