HAMILTON – An American Musical: August 17, 2015 – Richard Rodgers Theater, Reviewed

At the center of the Hamilton’s story is the relationship between Hamilton and Burr. Burr’s motto was “smile more talk less … don’t let them know what you stand for” whereas Hamilton was an outspoken proponent for a strong central government and a modern economic vision and often in opposition with Jefferson and Madison. Hamilton became George Washington’s most trusted adviser and confidant while Burr’s political aspirations were repeatedly thwarted. Burr is often seen looking on contemptuously instead of being invited into “In the Room Where it Happened.”

Her Mom shared with me that she received a text from Richa explaining how Taylor said, “even though things are hard they will get better” and mentioned her Dad. It was a comforting moment for both. Of course, adults can see a light at the end of the tunnel but kids need more experience, growth to know things will improve and maybe they need to hear it from a super star to believe it.

The band was so cool to watch – the keyboardist dressed in a pink suit from head-to-toe (including a fedora) who never stopped moving, the electric guitarist dressed in red with dangerously pointy shoes reminded me of a bullfighter with his choreographed movements (guitar his muleta), the horns, bass and ever present accordion

My daughters are in fourth grade now and to see the BELIEF in their eyes and to hear the EXCITEMENT in their stories is priceless. I never questioned how Santa Claus came while there were still adults present but my daughters did. I lie more during the holidays than any other time of year.
