Five years ago in 2011, I wrote a song called “Consensual Rape”
‘Then dig your shorty out cuz I geeked her up on molly/Have her eating dick, no need for seasoning/If seven dudes are in the room then she’s pleasing them/Like a trooper. Hit her in the pooper. Throw her in the shower/Then I take her out to Lupa I’m kinky, I’ll hit it even if it’s stinky/Put em in the shower, make the pussy brand new Ran through/Give ’em money what I can’t do Stuff her lunchbox & burn her with the candle.’
A lot more people were catching Action Bronson than I imagined and also, despite a ragging from me for his Best Buy appearance last year, Bronson was actually pretty darn good. A killer version of “Easy Rider” was quite the surprise as was his (relatively speaking, he’s a big lad), the athleticism with which he jumped off the audience to mix and match with the audience.
Easy Rider – Action Bronson – Drug pushing, pushing Keri Hilson lookalikes in the Hilton, riding easy on Harleys and riding into the sunset or the apocalypse or both , this terrific ending to a pretty good sophomore album justifies a lot of the hype surrounding this guy – A-
Brand New Car – Action Bronson – Somebody is ivesting serious bucks on this guy. Warners in the rest of the world, Atlantic in the US and the result is a pricey Billy Joel sample… luckily, Bronson makes excellent use of it, rapping right through the hook. Mark Ronson produced – B+
With a handful of early releases, here is some before the early review reviews, two are retreads three are new reviews, all are pretty good without changing the world.
A heavy duty concert week for me, Keith Urban, Action Bronson, Danny Brown, The Roots, Katy Perry and Chronixx, and not a dog in the lot but pride of place goes to Keith because it was just such a cool scene and Keith was a good natured country ramblin’ guy AT FORTY SIX!!!!
t is 11pm on a Wednesday night at Best Buy and while it doesn’t say “Sold Out” for the third annual Peter Palooza, I have never seen the club busier. Peter Palooza is Hut 97’s Sunday night new rap DJ Peter Rosenberg and the birthday celebration is his, but the people want Action Bronson.
Who ever thought Danny Brown would be the greatest growing up? Two terrific albums later, Danny sure is one of the best, Joined by Black Hippy Schoolboy Q and hero in his hometown Action Bronson for this years PeterPalooza # 3 at Best Buy on Wednesday. Should be the rap show of the year.
Here Comes Trouble – Chronixx – with both NPR and Jimmy Fallon hailing the young Jamaican as the second coming of Bob Marley I gave him a listen and he is nothing close to it, though this is a tasty piece of Rastaman vibes stuff – B+
Danny is a real American Black weirdo, the latest in a long line, and I think of all the names around here, he is the most purely commited and commitable rhymer. His flow isn’t better, phrasing not as good as Lamar and neither is his voice but his rhyming is impeccable and the two albums I’ve heard are both simply and undoubtedly fabulous albums
