– Easy Rider – Action Bronson – Drug pushing, pushing Keri Hilson lookalikes in the Hilton, riding easy on Harleys and riding into the sunset or the apocalypse or both , this terrific ending to a pretty good sophomore album justifies a lot of the hype surrounding this guy – A-
– Brooklyn Roads – Neil Diamond – A serious memory song, a dream of childhood where Neil is peaking into his past, it has the clarity of vision – A
– No Surrender – Bruce Springsteen – This is BRUCE’S ANSWER SONG, BUT, BEING Bruce, he takes it straight into the mythic – A
– Grief – Earl Sweatshirt – The album has done what Lamar’s hasn’t managed to; it has improved with every listen. This self-portrait, a Xanax poppin’ groupie fuckin’ guy who dopn’t act tough but is a tough act to follow is well worth paying attention. A fine track – A-
– Squeeze Box – The Who – A mid period slice of accordion magic as sexual metaphor – A
– I’ll Be There – Chic – Niles finds an old instrumental track and writes a song for his late partner – A-
– Aqua Profunda – Courtney Barnett – Her best song as far as songs go, a catchy twisty little rocker where she actually, you know, sings – A-
– Misery And Gin – Merle Haggard – Yeah, been there – B+
– Fitzpleasure – alt-j – This is where alt-j are not Radiohead for children, it is where they were their pop instincts – B+
– 5:15 – The Who – The best song not just on Quadrophenia, which you know, but better than anything on Tommy as well – A+
