From the “Get The Hell Over It ” file we have this latest apology from one hit wonder Macklemore. Our overly sensitive society is a joke as we scream injustice over the most trivial things. When we bitch and moan over every little thing the impact of truly offensive behavior pales. Like The Boy Who Cried Wolf, after awhile no one gives a hoot anymore.
Macklemore issued an official apology for offending people with a disguise he used at a top secret show last week…are you kidding me? Some overly sensitive souls were screaming that the get up was mocking the Jews…are you fucking kidding me? Photos from the concert show Macklemore wearing a black wig and beard and a fake hooked nose. Which we all know screams “Mock a Jew” at the highest level.
Mack stated the following: “I respect all cultures and all people,” he wrote. “I would never intentionally put down anybody for the fabric that makes them who they are. I love human beings, love originality, and … happen to love a weird outfit from time to time.”
I’m more offended by what the artists wears when he is not in disguise. “I acknowledge how the costume could, within a context of stereotyping, be ascribed to a Jewish caricature,” he wrote. “I am here to say that it was not absolutely not my intention, and unfortunately at the time I did not foresee the costume to be viewed in such regard. I’m saddened that this story, or any of my choices, would lead to any form of negativity.”
I’d have issued a statement telling people to get the fuck over it. Meanwhile he may just want to thank the idiots complaining for the opportunity to get more press.. and perhaps work on some new material.
