OK not really Christ himself but the tour of Jesus Christ Superstar that has been getting press blasted for months You recall this hoopla right? Johnny Lydon of the Sex Pistols and Public Image Ltd., Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, Incubus’ Brandon Boyd and ‘Nsync’s JC Chasez has been suddenly cancelled.
The show was set to debut on June 9th so talk about cutting it close! The director Michael Crohl (who is one of the masterminds of the ill fated Spiderman; Turn Off The Dark;) The interesting bit is no one really knows why it was cancelled and why so abruptly.
There is talk that the show would basically have to sell out at every stop in order to stay out of the red- was it poor ticket sales causing the halt? Not sure but if the below video is any indication…things were pretty rough. This bit was filmed on the ABC morning show Good Morning America, yikes. I honestly cannot believe how awful this is.. the cheesy moves alone just make me uncomfortable. OH GEE ZUZ…. Oh and the trumpet player looks just like David Spade.
The cast was actually pretty hilarious with Johnny Lydon to play King Herod, Boyd would have played Judas Iscariot, Williams was set to play Mary Magdalene, and Chasez was going to play Pontius Pilate. If that wasnt fine casting, I dont know what is).
