See what happens when the media loves you? You end up on HBO with your own series. The largest mouth in town will now be using it as host of a new series the cable network will be showing this winter.
In this series Grohl will travel to recording studios to interview (and I predict ‘jam’) with artists like Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio in Chicago, Washington, D.C.’s Inner Ear (Don Zientara) and Rancho De La Luna in California, with interviews featuring Kiss’ Paul Stanley, Joe Walsh of the Eagles and Heart’s Nancy Wilson, among others.
The artists are interesting, and dated. The series will attempt to expand on the feel of the Foo Fighters front man’s Sound City documentary.
When musicians become actors or worse TV hosts its never a good thing. There seems to be a false sense of glory for rockers- just because they’ve had some success they feel they can act, and model, and host and really now c’mon, stick to your day job.
Grohls 70s hair toss personality may work for about 10 minutes but soon his contrived interest and nodding head will become a parody. He doesn’t have the temperament to offer up any sort of interview interest. He’s a ‘yes man’ and a bore at that. I am dying to see him do the tilted head brow crunch of great and intense concern and interest. Trust me it will be there.
Winter is a while away so don’t worry too much. In the interim, Foo Fighters are now working on their 8th studio album. Wonder if that ‘studio’ is Grohls ‘garage’.
