So Jimmy Paige scored a honorary degree from Berklee (big deal, nice hat) and the reissues are due out in a couple weeks. The Led Zeppelin media blitz is on in full swing as 60 year old has beens and 17 year old wanna be’s drool and snap at the every mention. C’mon y’all get a grip.
Jimmy Paige seems to be the rocket of press in the grand scheme of things. He seems to be everywhere and now is even suggesting he will be releaseing new material. John Kyrk of Cannoe.CA, is headed to New York next week to interview Paige and is offering up a chance to ‘ask him anything’. Thats a wise move to give that opportunity to the public and show off that you’re speaking with a legend. You can enter your question here . What do you ask someone who has been asked everything?
Robert Plant is saying there will be no reunion so there you have it– and thank God. Let the legends remain pristine the last thing we need is to see Plant with a sock in his Depends singin’ “Whole Lotta Love”..ew.
Finally there is a ridiculous auction happening at Bonhams and if you want to drop $42K on some photos PHOTO’s. The most copied art form ever and some wank is gonna shell out that coin for originals? Never understood photo auctions, never will. These shots are from the infamous Chat Noir sex club pics from 1973. Not the sexiest pics Ive ever seen but hey- it was 73 and things weren’t pretty to begin with.
Heres the sales pitch from Bonhams site
“At the beginning of March 1973, Led Zeppelin arrived in Scandinavia at the start of a European tour. What must have been one of the most bizarre events involving the band (even by their standards!) was a reception held at Stockholm’s leading sex club, the Chat Noir.
It is believed that it was Peter Grant who suggested to Metronome Records, the Swedish company representing Atlantic, that this be staged at such a venue. During the proceedings, which included a naked couple performing on a small stage, the band was presented with a number of gold album sales awards. According to Börje Ekberg, head of Metronome, Bengt H. Malmqvist (1928-2008), one of Sweden’s leading record sleeve photographers in the 1950s and 1960s, was the only photographer invited to record the occasion.
The great majority of these images are previously unseen. One was recently published in the book ‘De legendariska åren – Metronome Records’ and a few images are thought to have appeared in a Swedish men’s magazine at the time. This unique collection has never been offered before and comprises all images taken on the day. Sold with the photographer’s copyright.”
Forty three THOUSAND DOLLARS… theres a sucker born every minute.
