Barry Gibb back to the music
Barry Gibb back to the music

I only saw the Bee Gees once, in 1998 as part of a Saturday Night Fever 20th anniversary gig. They weren’t great but they were definitely the Bee Gees, and that can never happen again. It could well be the last time for Barry Gibb as well so a package that finds Barry with a couple of second generation Bee Gees supporting him, has forced me out to the wilds of Long Island’s Jones Beach on Friday. Will it be worth? I’ll be shocked if the harmonies are anything great but attempting them is their birth right.

Monday – Swans – MHOW – Michael Gira’s heavy girth rock new album To Be Kind is pretty good. Even the 34 minute song.

Thursday – The Pains of Being Pure At Heart – Bowery Ballroom – With their best album in years in picket, they are playing a way larger that Mercury Lounge but whether it’s too large you’ll have to find out for yourself.

Friday – Guided By Voices – Bowery Ballroom – Too prolific for their own good, they force themselves into being a cult band. Still, Motivational Jumpsuit isn’t terrible .

Saturday, Sunday – Electric Daisy Carnival – Metlife – Did you find out where somebody wrote that the Outkast’s bombed at Coachella because DJs are so much more exciting live. Decide for yourself. There are at least two people I wanna see: Cash Cash and Rudimental, oh, and DJ Snake is as hot as he will ever be.
