Alesana were the best band ever. I would have done anything to speak to them about 5 years ago but now? Nah, they’re not worth the gas money. They waited too long got too full of themselves and took a too long hiatus making them useless and a bore.
Their new material wasn’t worth the entire listening and their upcoming tour.. is a tour I won’t bother with. Sad considering how much I adored these guys such a short time ago.
In the fickle world of hardcore you either got it or you don’t and if you got it- best not let it go. Growler Denny Diablo had some of the best chops ever- but became just another drunken biker. Shawn Milke too smart a businessman with his Artery Foundation affiliation to be badass enough. They offered up epic releases full of vivid imagery and storytelling then POOF gone- done and no one even cared.
Well no one cared aside from 14 year old scene girls and their dwindling ‘Alesana Army’, what is up with the ‘army’ bit anyway? Every band has an army and they’re not fighting for nothing.
Anyway Alesana aren’t going to Eastern Europe cuz they’re scared they’ll disappear and I’m thinking if they did- they’d be better off cuz then they would get the fame they deserved years ago when they let it all slip away.

“To all of our fans in Finland, Russia, and Ukraine:
We are sad but we must regretfully announce the postponement of our trip overseas to play for our fans in Finland, Russia, and Ukraine. Politically, things have been tense in some of those regions and in light of the tragedy of Flight MH17 the members of Alesana, along with our families and loved ones, have decided it is in our best interest to postpone the dates until travel proves to be less inhibitive of our safety. We love our fans and cannot wait to play for each and every one of you, but circumstances have forced us to consider our well-being and the peace of mind of our families. We hope to see you very soon!”
