So The Adams Family has released a new song and performed it on Conan June 11th. Luckily Gomez and Morticia stopped speaking in French long enough to get this twangy tune in the can. It seems Gomez is no longer able to shower and is boycotting the barber, Morticia has been sucking on helium so much it’s hard to recognize her voice any more. The home is still as lovely I think that’s a new chandelier. I think Uncle Fester was out on the town when this was recorded.
Jack White played his new song “Alone In My House” bathed in blue forcing himself and his band to take on the milky pallor of a young raw veal- the elaborate bordello set- all the more odd. Why he opts to make his surroundings so quirky and artsy is beyond me. Eventfully the gimmicks will become too cumbersome (one would hope) and he would quit the dramatics and perform.
That being said I hate twang, I hate ‘fiddle” I hate helium induced women’s voices (that cut my ear drums to shreds with their pitch) and absolutely LOVE this song- what gives?
What gives is this is a great example of how a video helps a song. I first listen without looking- and found the back up vocals piercing and annoying- the strings too tight and squealing. But after watching it I was completely turned around. This is a great tune contagious and sway inducing and most likely ending up as my favorite on the new LP “Lazaretto”.
The question remains, how does Jack White suck me in every time when he is the absolute poster boy for everything I hate?
No clue– but the song is fab.
