Bono and the Edge working on new musical.. not kiddin'

So remember Spiderman: Turn Off  The Dark on Broadway?  Oh the joy of falling actors and constant mayhem.  We may never see a show like that again.  Plagued by so many issues it had to have been cursed.  But wait.. Bono and Edge wont let a little thing like that interfere with their delusional existence.  They’re back it!  A new musical will be headed your way courtesy of this dynamic duo.

Bono and The Edge (c’mon already how about a legit name at this point this moniker is just dumb) are working with John Carney on his semi-autobiographical film “Sing Street”.

Carney directed the musical hit film Once in 2006 and hopes to do it again with this story based on his childhood and love of music. The film revolves around a 14-year-old boy who forms a band, writes songs and shoots videos, all in hopes of escaping his home life.

Set in 1980s Dublin and follows a teenage boy named Cosmo as he’s forced out of his comfortable private-school bubble and into a rough-and-tumble public school, where he forms a ragtag band, starts shooting scrappy music videos and falls in love.

An entirley new concept in musical film dontcha think? but with the power of U2 this one will be heads and tails above all others…. right?

It seems to me that no band is content with just being a band.  Between the endorsements and the promotion and the ‘branching out’ its a never ending cash cow, at least in this case Bono is not trying to act or direct, just scoring the music.   I have a feeling he’s going to want his mug on the big screen so don’t rule that out.

Stay tuned for details on this new adventure…
