Blondie Lives!
Blondie Lives!

Its very hard to believe that Blondie has been around for forty years.  Its astonishing actually since no one who was involved in the ‘first wave’ of new wave believes they’re over 20 years old.  The glory days of New Yorks scene gave birth to this beauty and the beasts band and their longevity is fabulous.

In honor of this massive accomplishment they’ll be releasing a mega super duper box that will cost more than a days wages for sure.   The Ghost Of Download,  includes, including the standard two-CD set, vinyl LP and a deluxe package that includes the double CD, plus a bonus DVD of a 1977 Blondie show at CBGB, a replica of a vintage poster and five postcards featuring the photography of guitarist Chris Stein. The vinyl will also include the DVD.  Replica posters are dumb by the way.

The new album is packaged side by side with a disc of classics- and that’s the good part of this package.

“It is a very collaborative disc,” drummer Clem Burke recently told

“It is a very collaborative disc,” drummer Clem Burke recently told Jeneasispop, “Chris (Stein) directed this disc mainly. he has always liked the world music and the underground, rap, reggae, any thing … In this sense, it is a continuation of the way at which there has been employed Blondie, which has never been limited only to the normal pop.”

“If I tell you the truth, from my point of view, I would like to recover the idea of ‘Parallel Lines,’ of taking Blondie to the studio and recording directly, with real drums and less drum programming, for example. This disc has not been like that. Live, Blondie is a rock ‘n roll band, and people who see us live probably do not expect an album like this one.”

These guys aren’t going anywhere.  May 13th is the release date.
