Not a big fan of the Hall of Fame but we say that all the time.This year of course rocknyc will be in the house but only for the scoop (and Cat Stevens of course!)
With so many artists not showing up or bad mouthing it all together (hello KISS!) its a wonder anyone takes this award seriously. We all know its Rolling Stones charade and well, it makes for good entertainment. After watching Iggy Pop’s shirtless crap on the show a few years ago I stopped watching all together, just too vile. Too sad, too nostalgia act. When The Clash stepped up, I didn’t even look- it’s just not my cuppa.
So now Miss Rondstadt will not attend. This not for political or moral reasons but rather due to her struggles with Parkinson’s disease. She swore off singing last year and now states she needs to save her travel strength for more important events. “I have to spend a certain amount of time visiting my family and I have to spend a little bit doing things that are professional. But I just can’t travel casually; it’s too hard.”
Sorta sad really but wait don’t get blue. Rondstadt is kick ass when she chimes in withe the following killer quote
“I haven’t given it one thought. I didn’t go the last two times I was nominated for a Grammy either. I don’t have anything against it – you just don’t do things for those reasons. If you’re working for prizes you’re in trouble.”
Sad but cool none the less! Don’t worry she will be properly paid tribute by Glenn Frey, Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Rait, Sheryl Crow, Carrie Underwood and Emmylou Harris.
