– Hold My Hand – Jess Glynne – This must hit the US charts, it is gyramandered from a Clean Bandit (Jack Patterson is one of the writers) like beat, disco Moroder, Kanye piano discretions, and all comes together with a full force vocal as smart as it is addictive. Even the hook is a work of addition through addition. I really think it should be the song of the summer… A
– Cheerleader – OMI – Left field electronic reggae groove winning over the world – B+
– Attak (Featuring Danny Brown) – Rustie – After doing himself nothing but favors at Governors Ball earlier this month, breakout star of the festival Rustie might send you back to this excellent rap by Danny Brown and great sample by Rustie – A
– Moaning Lisa Smile – Wolf Alice – Indie rockers from the UK nail it down here, the guitar solo sends it into space and these words: “Clinging to love, escape a father and mother, She offers some other way out of the whole, She’s overachieving, Chasing her dreams And comedy slowly, it’s out of control” – That’s Lisa SImpson they’re singing about… – A-
– The Heat – Jungle – Miami Vice disco mood music, shoulda broken last year – B+
– I Won’t Dance – Tony Bennett And Lady Gaga – Look, Tony can sing everything but every time Gaga opens her mouth I head for the doors – C-
– Rumors (Feat Tove Lo) – Adam Lambert – Is this really that much worse then every other popstar out there. Yeah, marginally but when pop is this lame margins matter. It just doesn’t work – C-
– Lisbon – Wolf Alice – One of the three really great songs on the album and it pulls the rest in for you – A
– Bros – Wolf Alice – Here is the third – A
– Donald Trump – Mac Miller – “Trump shit” rhymin’ with “dumb shit”… it might be his only song but it is a goodie – B+
