Recorded: My album of the week, Hudson Mohawke’s Lantern remains my favorite album of the week with Rustie’s 2014 Green Lantern, which I unfortunately missed entirely last year, also getting time. James Taylor and Wolf Alice are taking up the rest of my life.
Live: A three day run of gigs begins today with Wolf Alice at LPR, I love bands when they suddenly have yards of buzziness about them. Wolf Alice have been around for five years but this is the moment when they’ve caught on.
Politics: The New York Daily News reports that Presidential Candidate Donald Trump paid actors fifty bucks a throw to appear at his launch party. Meanwhile, here is Trump after insulting an entire nation: ““I love the Mexicans! They’re great people, but the people that are coming aren’t the Mexicans that we want. And they’re not just Mexicans — they’re coming from all over the place,”
Movies: That new Pixar movie about, literally, the “Inside Out” of an eleven year old girl moving to San Francisco with her family sounds like it may well be a winner… on the other hand, they forgot to include dinosaurs…
Gossip: Nooooooooooooooo, Sean Penn and his fiancee Charlize Theron have broken up. I blame that Mad Max movie. Now, if only they had dinosaurs.
Sports: US Women’s Soccer: they beat Nigeria 1 – 0 (two days ago but news travels slowly)… now if only they’d had dinosaurs.
Song Of The Summer: OMI seems ready to take over the lead.
